LOOKING AHEAD: 4 Marina-Close Happenings to Get You in the Holiday Spirit

Thanksgiving has come and gone, the temps are cool and refreshing, and the mood is festive and bright… yep, all signs are pointing to an epic holiday season! Let’s launch into the merriest month of the year with gusto, shall we? All around Marina del Rey and beyond, the first week of December is brimming with celebratory cheer that will put a smile on your face and have you bursting with holiday anticipation. Here are four happenings you don’t want to miss.

Head to Burton Chance Park on December 1st to mark the beginning of the second annual Marina Lights. The park will be decked out in a gorgeous light display that you can enjoy all month long from 4 pm to 10 pm, plus every Saturday, there will be free entertainment for the whole family. This coming Saturday, the Wonderelles will hit the stage with their 1950s/60s-style holiday music, followed by a screening of everyone’s favorite Christmas movie—A Christmas Story. Since there will be a nice chill in the air, make sure to dress warmly…and don’t forget cash for some hot cocoa! 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey.

Are you a proud pet parent? Then make a reservation for a holiday family photo shoot at Annenberg PetSpace on Sunday, December 2nd. For $49, you’ll get a 20-minute session with professional photographer Dianna Lundin, who will capture you and your furry loves in digital perfection. PetSpace will provide adorable holiday props and backdrops at no cost to you (so cute!), and you’ll walk away with two memorable digital images. Time slots are filling up fast so book your spot now! 12005 Bluff Creek Dr., Playa Vista.

Keep the fun going with Hornblower’s Holiday Dinner Cruise & Toy Drive on Sunday night, December 2nd. The two- and one-half hour cruise features an amazing four-course dinner, a DJ, champagne and gorgeous views, plus the chance to support the Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Just bring a new, unwrapped toy along for the on-board donation box to brighten the holiday season for kids who need it most. The cruise is $95 per person (plus fees). 13755 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey.

Beer lovers, pay attention—because Tony P’s Christmas Beer Dinner is happening on Wednesday, December 5th. Limited reservations are accepted for this scrumptious prix-fix meal that offers five courses, each perfectly paired with an outstanding brew. For example, the second course is a spicy mac-n-cheese accompanied by a smooth, creamy Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale—pure yum. The price is just $65 per person (including tax and tip). Call 310.823.4534 for your Beer Dinner reservation before they’re completely booked. 4445 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey.
