As if there aren’t enough cool things happening in Marina del Rey, we have one more sweet option to add to the paradise pile — a large scale, tech-modern art exhibition at the Ritz Carlton. Salon D’Art is partnering with the hotel to put on this nifty event, and the really great thing (aside from the art, of course) is the technology they’re using to make it extra special. When you visit the exhibit, you can enjoy guideless, “beacon-activated” tours through your iPhone or iPad, which translates into downloading a free app on your Apple device (or you can check out an iPad at the Ritz Carlton’s concierge desk). When you stand in front of each piece of artwork, the app senses where you are and delivers facts about that piece, plus purchasing details. Kind of ingenious, isn’t it?

Plus, the featured art exhibits are hard to resist with “Picasso to Warhol” showcased in the guest corridor and lobby, and “Matisse: The Simplicity of Sublime” set up in Cast & Plow. There will be both limited edition art on paper, and originals— so we’re talking about some rare, amazing pieces on display.

If you’re a true art lover, you might also consider reserving a space for the exhibit’s launch party in the hotel’s private dining room. The reception is this Saturday, September 19th from 5 pm to 7 pm, so if you’re interested, call the communications coordinator at 310-574-4271 to secure a spot (they’re going quick, so call soon!).

Are you planning on indulging your art love at this sweet, new exhibit? Let us know if you check it out!
