Your Guide to a Grand Mother’s Day Brunch In & Around Marina del Rey

When it comes to must-celebrate holidays, Mother’s Day is up there with the best. This is when we get to officially honor that one woman in our life for all of the strength, awesomeness and love she puts out there as a world-class mamma bear. Since the big day is coming up this Sunday (May 14th), now is the perfect time to get your super-plan in motion. Something fabulous like — booking a Diamond Rose Mani-Pedi at Spa-Del Rey (or a spa gift card for a later date!), picking up a Mother’s Day box of See’s from Waterside, ordering some gorgeous blooms from maybe Heather’s Flowers —- and last but definitely not least, making brunch reservations at a fabulous spot around Marina del Rey. As you know, we have quite a few of them so you’re going to have to weigh your options — consider ambience, views, menu items and price and then make that reservation asap. Here are a few can’t-beat destinations to think about… and if you go to one of them, let us know all the details!

1. Café del Rey

The views, the food, the food, the views — yeah, we love this place. And they’re hosting a lovely Mother’s Day to-do with a three-course prix fixe meal that includes sparkling wine, mimosas, Bloody Marys or sparkling cider (plus coffee, sodas, etc.). The menu gives you some tantalizing choices for each course, such as a Shrimp Gazpacho appetizer; Eggs Benedict or Poached Salmon & Kale Salad; and a duo of desserts (Chocolate Ganache Cake and Lemon Tart!). The price is $52 per person and you need reservations. Call (310) 823-6395. Right. Now.

Where to Indulge for National Pancake Day in Marina del Rey — TODAY!

Happy National Pancake Day, Marina del Rey friends! This is your day to celebrate the delicious, starchy, “more syrup please!” miracle that is the pancake (preferably with a big ole stack at your favorite Marina breakfast spot). Since this “holiday” is actually a gigantic deal at IHOP, you’ll naturally want to head to the Marina-area location at some point today. Especially since they have a very cool charity deal tied in that makes it hard to resist (read below for details!).

But that’s not the only game in town — not even close. Because if you’re a true pancake lover, you’ll save IHOP for dinner and head to one of our quaint little (spectacular) dining destinations for a breakfast stack of homemade pancake goodness right now. Are we suggesting you have pancakes for TWO meals today? Of course we are. Consider it a National Pancake Day challenge. Are you up for it? Let’s go!

Buy or Bake Your Way to a Smile! It’s National Pie Day In & Around Marina del Rey

“PIE.” Just the word brings a smile to your face, doesn’t it? There’s a reason for that — pie is one of the greatest creations on the planet. And guess what? Monday (TODAY!), January 23rd is National Pie Day — aka: the day it’s almost patriotic to dive fork-first into some flaky, sweet pie goodness.

To celebrate, you’re obviously obliged to have at least one slice for yourself, but you can also honor the holiday by hosting a pie party after work, surprising friends or co-workers with a pie, giving a pie to the local fire or police station (as a thank you for their selfless work) or brush up on your pie baking skills just for the fun of it!
