SUPER BOWL LII HITS THE SCREEN THIS SUNDAY–CATCH IT AT THESE 7 SPOTS

Super Bowl LII is just FOUR days from now on February 4—and while the Rams aren’t in the big game (although they made it to the playoffs!)—the Patriots vs the Eagles is going to be an awesome matchup. Plus, songstress-goddess Pink is singing the National Anthem, Hamilton’s Leslie Odom, Jr. is belting out “America the Beautiful” and the Pepsi Super Bowl Half-time show will feature none other than Justin Timberlake (and special guests—like maybe his old N’Sync bandmates?). Any way you look at it, we’re in for a fun afternoon!

So, let’s start thinking about your Sunday viewing options. 1) You can cook up some yummy eats, invite your pals over and watch the game on your flat screen. B) You can go to a friend’s house, dive into their yummy eats and watch the game on their flat screen. C) You can head out to one of our area’s best sports-bar spots, enjoy food and drinks—and get into the game action with a zillion of your fellow football fans. If you go for “A” or “B” — we say, have a great time, be safe, and cheer your heart out! And if you choose “C”—well, we have some excellent destination suggestions to make sure when the game starts at 3:30 pm, you’re ready to root with the best of them.

Check these out:

1. Tony P’s Tavern
4445 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey

The Super Bowl action may be coming from super cold Minneapolis, but lucky for us, you can watch it unfold from the harbor-side warmth of Tony P’s tavern—if you can score a reservation, that is. This is one of the most popular places to catch the game (with eight giant high-def TVs) and tickets always go fast. So, if you haven’t already, call 310.823.4534 to book your spot. The cost is $25 per person and includes a special, commemorative Tony P’s Super Bowl t-shirt and a raffle ticket. Plus, they have so many different kinds of beer to try—whether your team is winning or not, you can at least enjoy that!

2. The Yard House
13455 W. Maxella Ave., Marina del Rey

You can’t go wrong at the Yard House—it has a festive atmosphere and over 20 TVs that will be tuned in to the big game magic. Plus, they have a nice selection of craft, local and import beers, as well as delicious game-style food like nachos, guacamole, Buffalo Wings (including Gardein™ vegan wings!), sliders, coconut shrimp and spinach-cheese dip. And again—20 TVs!

3. Baja Cantina
311 Washington Blvd., Marina del Rey

Baja Cantina is another super fun spot for Super Bowl Sunday and they definitely make it worth your while. First off, they have plenty of TVs, including out on their comfy outdoor patio—so you won’t miss a thing. But that’s only the beginning…they’ll have a special menu for the night, drink specials AND giveaways that include a football autographed by sports legend Marv Fleming, who was the first athlete to play in five Super Bowls (winning four of them) and (a little trivia for you) was actually recruited by Vince Lombardi. Pretty darn cool, right?

4. Prince O’ Wales
335 Culver Blvd., Playa del Rey

Prince O’ Wales is just next door in Playa del Rey, and the scene is ready-made for Super Bowl madness. You won’t miss a minute of play with 17 HDTVs and flatscreens throughout the bar (and out on the patio!), and their bar food is what football watching dreams are made of—chicken tacos, potato skins, onion rings, nachos and fried zucchini (for the healthier set—try the fresh steamed artichoke). Another bonus is the distraction factor here—if you’re not into the half-time show, you can eat up those 13 long minutes with darts, ping pong, pinball and backgammon.

5. Sports Harbour
13484 W. Washington Blvd., Marina del Rey

If the Patriots win the game on Sunday, it will be their SIXTH WIN! And there are lots of fans who are big time excited about that possibility. On the other side of the coin— there are Eagles fans who really, truly, desperately want to see their team nail their first Super Bowl win…and on the Westside, there’s one place where they’ll definitely find some company—Sports Harbour, the king of dive bars. It’s a straight-up, no-nonsense sports bar where people are friendly, the vibe is relaxed, drinks are strong and at a good price, and bar food faves like Buffalo wings (with their phenomenal sauce) are on the menu.

6. Surfside Venice
23 Windward Ave., Venice

Up in Venice, a major Super Bowl party is happening at Surfside! They’ll have all 12 TVs blasting the game, two bars serving up the drinks and a lot of deals happening. They’re “Game Time Specials” range from a decadent $15 Tailgate Platter with jalapeno poppers, wings, mac & cheese wedges and onion rings to an $8 plate of fried chicken & waffle sliders. They’ll also have drink specials, like $4 Mimosas, $5 Bloody Mary’s and $14 Bud Light pitchers. Stick around after the game too because Venice’s own “The Brobots” band will be playing live!

7. Mo’s Place
203 Culver Blvd., Playa del Rey

If you’ve been to Mo’s Place before, you know they can throw a heck of a fun party—and Super Bowl Sunday will definitely live up to the zany hype. Get there early to score a seat for the big game, and enjoy Happy Hour prices and some great drink specials. You can also count on the Westside’s favorite host—Mo himself—to run the show in one of his madcap (and priceless!) costumes, dealing out prizes and making sure everyone’s having a grand, old time. Remember to come hungry because the food here is darn good, as well. Try their loaded potato skins, mozzarella sticks, baked Brie with garlic bread or Mo’s Mexican Jalapeno Burger.
