Great Options for a Fab Father’s Day in Marina del Rey

The fathers in our lives are pretty special, and this Sunday, it’s all about acknowledging their unique brand of dad-ness in the best way possible way — by celebrating in Marina del Rey! As always, our little pocket of paradise is chock full of possibilities to make dad feel appreciated, loved and really happy. So, let’s review your top options and get ready to make June 18th one of the best Father’s Days yet!

FATHER’S DAY BEER CRUISES

Food, beer and a nice big boat. The quintessential dad-style outing, are we right? Hornblower is making it happen with three cruises on Sunday — two Beer Brunch Cruises and the Beer Afternoon Buffet Cruise later in the day. The 12 pm cruise is totally sold out but you can still score reservations at the 11 am and 4 pm time slots!

Tickets are $74.95 per person (plus tax and service fees) and that includes two hours cruising on the harbor; free-flowing beer, champagne and sparkling cider; live entertainment; a bold and beautiful food spread (with everything from donuts, salmon filet and soba noodle salad to tri-tip roast, scrambled eggs and mac & cheese); and as a special little souvenir — a commemorative pint glass for your pops. All aboard the beer cruise!

FATHER’S DAY PAMPERING

No matter what kind of dad you have, you can bet he’d love a little pamper-action on his big day — and a quality massage will definitely do the trick. Spa Soleil (4278 Lincoln Blvd) has a great menu of options like the Sports Massage or a customized massage that hits all the right sore muscle notes. Plus, he’ll feel like a king in their soft, fluffy robes, sipping on soothing ginger tea until his massage gets underway. And get this — a 90 minutes massage is just $99. Score! Other great spas in the area include Spa del Rey at the Ritz Carlton (which offers access to their beautiful pool with spa services!) and the popular Marina Massage (13456 Washington Blvd).

FATHER’S DAY DINING

Thank you, Marina del Rey for being the best place on the planet for great harbor-side brunches. Now, how can we narrow down which restaurant is right for Father’s Day? It’s not easy but we have a couple of grand suggestions that are tried and true faves — Café del Rey’s (4451 Admiralty Way) prix-fixed Father’s Day menu will be pretty divine. Think Quiche Lorraine, eggs benedict, steak & eggs. Good stuff, right? Plus, mimosas and other festive beverages are included. For the kids, they’ll have a special menu with tyke-approved favorites like pasta and pizza. Another good choice: Father’s Day Champagne Buffet at Whiskey Red’s (13813 Fiji Way)! This is the motherload of buffets, people — everything you can imagine from summer BBQ standards and decadent carving stations to your favorite breakfast items and even a taco bar will be there to fill up those Father’s Day bellies. Plus, we can’t forget — dads who are 21 and over enjoy champagne and one free beer. Happy Father’s Day, indeed. Need a few more ideas? You got it! Cast and Plow Restaurant, SALT and Jamaica Bay Inn all have awesome brunches.

FATHER’S DAY ACTIVITIES

Treat the father in your life to a great afternoon filled with his favorite activities. Maybe hit the links at Westchester Golf Course or reserve a court at the Ritz Carlton’s tennis courts. Rent a tandem kayak by Mother’s Beach or charter a boat for some sport fishing. We have such beautiful trails around town, an outing with dad can be as easy as hopping on bikes and cycling down the coast for a lunch in South Bay. Just spending time together could be better than any gift you could buy.
