A Hauntingly Happening Halloween In & Around Marina del Rey

The haunting, ghoulish, sassy fun of another All Hallow’s Eve is just around the corner and let’s just say that all spooky signs point to another howling good time around town. Since Halloween 2018 falls on a Wednesday, next weekend will be the pivotal time for celebrating, so get your plans in order, pick out your mind-blowing costume and have the most spine-tingling good time of your life. If you need some dress-up inspiration, here are top results from our on-trend intel so far: Fortnite characters, unicorns, super heroes (especially Deadpool and Harley Quinn), the eighties, princesses (we’re looking at you Meghan Markle!) and that terrifying IT clown. While you meditate on those options…take a look at some of the best upcoming Halloween happenings in Marina del Rey and beyond.

Marina Spooktacular
October 27th & October 28th

Of course our top pick for Halloween hijinks has to the Marina Spooktacular at Burton Chace Park! There will be a DJ, entertainment and food trucks, plus costume contests (for humans and dogs!), a scavenger hunt graveyard (ooooooh), a blackout maze of terror (yikes!), trick or treating (sugar rush!), and pirate ship tours (if you want serious thrills and chills, wait until after sundown when the pirate ship is haunted). This is always a lot of fun so be there between 9 am and 9 pm Saturday and Sunday to join in. Admission is free.

Venice Dog-a-Ween
October 28th

Is there anything more adorable than your pooch decked out in his or her cutest Halloween duds? Then put Venice Beach’s Dog-O-Ween on your calendar because you don’t want to miss the upcoming sweetness overload. On Sunday, October 28th, from 4 pm to sunset, you can bring your four-legged BFF to 23rd and Oceanfront Walk for an amazing canine-style Halloween mixer with numerous Costume Contests (Best in Show/Most Hilarious/Most Original/Best Family), great folk music from Christopher Hawley & Gaby Fountains, prize giveaways, organic treats, and much more.

Haunted Heats Halloween Surf Contest
October 27th

Here’s a downright rad, California-style Halloween experience—ZJ Boarding House’s annual Haunted Heat surf contest in Santa Monica. Head up to Tower 26–27 at 8 am to check out surfers riding the waves in their zaniest costumes—it’s a great time (plus, the feel-good atmosphere is totally worth waking up that early on a Saturday). If you’re a surfer and want to participate, all you need to do is fill out an entry form, dress up, and be ready for some major fun. The fee is $15 if you enter by TODAY (October 23rd) or $25 if you enter the day of the event. All skill levels are welcome!

Monster Bash Fundraiser
October 26th

Make your Halloween celebration fun and impactful at the annual Monster Bash benefitting Meals on Wheels West. Purchase your tickets, climb into your most inventive costume, and head to the Marina del Rey Marriott’s rooftop ballroom at 8 pm on Thursday for an amazing night. You’ll enjoy complimentary drinks, tasty food, a DJ and dancing, casino games, a silent auction and more, including costume contests. Help out a great organization and have a scary good time doing it!

Haunted Hotel at the Viceroy
