Good news, summer fans—it’s picnic season! Prime time to pack up a luscious meal and head to a gorgeous outdoor spot for some open-air fun. If you want to follow true picnic protocol, then your first outing of the season should definitely be on International Picnic Day—June 18th. Sure, that falls on a Monday but that shouldn’t stop you! Get creative and make a plan for a team picnic with co-workers. Or have a Monday evening picnic dinner with friends or your honey. All it takes is a great location, good food and your favorite company. And we can help with the first two.



Burton Chace Park
13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey

Beautiful Burton Chace Park is the consummate Marina del Rey picnic destination. Lay a blanket out on the lush grass, relax, eat up a storm and watch the boats sail by. Mother’s Beach
4135 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey

Mother’s Beach is undergoing some impressive upgrades—so while it may not be ready for a June 18thpicnic, definitely put it on your list for (sometime in) July. When completed, they’ll have big, shady picnic pavilions with new tables, BBQ grills and beautiful landscaping. P.S. Del Rey Lagoon

Bordered by Playa del Rey’s “Toes Beach,” this hidden neighborhood park is a fabulous place for a June picnic outing. Grab a picnic table or a grassy spot, lay out your picnic spread and enjoy the sights and sounds of the dazzling wetlands wildlife. Recipe Idea: Mashed Chickpea Salad Sandwich.


Glen Alla Park
4601 Alla Rd., Marina del Rey

If you have children (two-legged or four-legged), Glenn Alla Parkis just plain awesome for family-style picnics. There are ample tables, benches and nice grassy areas to satisfy the actual picnic part of the day, plus play structures for kids and lots of room for well-behaved doggies to play too! Palisades Park
Ocean Ave. (between Colorado Ave and Adelaide Dr)

This is one of the most gorgeous picnic destinations on the Westside and it just happens to be just a quick jaunt from the Marina. Score! Bike (or rent a Bird) to the park for a tranquil day filled with breathtaking ocean views, picturesque gardens, sculptures, and countless spots for picnicking.
