Music, Art, Food: Venice Beach Music Festival Hits the Neighborhood Sept. 21-22

There is no denying it: Venice Beach is one eclectic (dare we say, eccentric?) community. You’ve got the hipster-cool of Abbot Kinney and all of its farm-to-table restaurants, upscale shopping, art galleries, etc. Then as you move closer to the boardwalk, you’ve got the bohemian vibe of street musicians and venders, quaint hole-in-the-wall food joints, and guys in dreadlocks on roller skates. Regardless of your style, Venice offers something for everyone. And if you happen to live in the heart of Marina del Rey—you’re less than two miles from it all. Which brings us to one of the coolest community events of the year: the annual Venice Beach Music Festival.

Venice Beach Fest

As the sister festival to the Venice Spring Fling, the Venice Beach Music Festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 21-22) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can head down to Windward Plaza Park at 1 Windward Avenue and join your fellow Westside compadres in a celebration of all that is “Venice”: music, art, dance, and cultural milestones of the community. There are performances from Willie Chambers, Meet Me at the Pub, LOONER, The Familyhood Nextperience, Ya Harissa Bellydance Theater, Jet West, Michael Jost, ATS Bellydance and Drums, Champa 51, Stevie Starlight and Samba Da Mundaca. And did we mention there will also be some sweet street food and vendor booths?  C’mon…it doesn’t get more “Venice” than that!

Are you planning on checking out the festival this weekend?  Let us know in the comments below.
