October 9th, 2018

When you think of October, a lot of things come to mind—cooler temperatures, slightly warmer clothes (hello scarves!), autumn holidays and pumpkin everything are the top contenders. But there’s one more fall favorite to add to your list—PIZZA! In case you didn’t know… October is National Pizza Month and you have every excuse to indulge all month long, whenever you have a hankering. If you live in and around Marina del Rey, you are in for a major treat because some of the best pizzas in LA (from traditional to gourmet to plant-based) are all within reach.

Here are five top spots to try!

The Good Pizza
4222 Lincoln Blvd., Marina del Rey

For carryout or delivery, The Good Pizza in Marina del Rey is so much more than a GOOD choice. Need proof? They recently won 2018’s Best Pizza in Argonaut’s Best of the Westside (two years in a row!)—and with the competition out there, that’s a mighty impressive feat. They’re known for their amazing crust and sauces (seriously dynamite delicious) and innovative creations like the BBQ pizza, which is topped with regular and smoked mozzarella, caramelized onions, chicken and French fries…yes, French fries. Sounds weird but if you’re going to indulge—this is the direct, do-not-pass-go, “wow this is good” path to follow. You can also build your own custom pie with a wonderland of toppings.

Fresh Brothers
4722 1/2 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey

Fresh Brothers is always a top choice for great pizza any way you want it. Choose from skinny crust, thin crust, deep dish crust, cauliflower crust, vegan crust, or gluten-free medium-thin crust, plus all the yummy toppings you could want. This is also a prime spot for plant-based lovers with toppings like Daiya Cheese and Beyond Meat sausage available, as well as their new Impossible™ Pizza (perfect for vegans and carnivores!).

MidiCi The Neapolitan Pizza Company
13488 Maxella Ave., Marina del Rey

MidiCi just opened in September and already, it’s a favorite pick for National Pizza Month. Service is super friendly, the restaurant is cute as can be, and the pizza is pretty spectacular. Their Truffle and Vegetable pizza is rich and delectable; the Double Pepperoni is a giant hit with meat eaters; and their classic Margherita is downright yummy. Vegans can indulge too with their cheese-less Red Marinara or a build-your-own plant-based pie with vegan cheese, veggies and vegan sausage.

Café del Rey
4451 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey

In case you missed the news—Café del Rey was voted “Best Fine Dining” in the Argonaut’s Best of the Westside edition last month! So, it comes as no surprise that their mad cooking skills are not lost on the pie that is pizza. Scan their “Starters” portion of the menu and you’ll spot the incredible Truffle Pizza, which is…well, divine. Their homemade crust is topped with truffle cream, caramelized onion, truffle peelings, fresh thyme and fresh parmesan…and let’s just say…the taste is something to behold. P.S. While pizza may not seem like the most impressive date night meal—it is at Café del Rey, because they’ve also been donned 2018’s “Most Romantic Restaurant” on the Westside. Pizza for two? By all means yes.

Pizzarito N.Y.
4371 Glencoe Ave., Marina del Rey

Looking for a slice of NYC in Marina del Rey? Then grab a big, hot, cheesy, saucy slice at Pizzarito. For those wanting more than a slice—get the whole pie! Especially if it’s their Eggplant, Marinara and Ricotta gourmet pizza (it’s legendary!) or the out of this world deep-dish Sicilian pizza.

National Pizza Month has to be one of the most genius celebratory inventions ever, are we right? So get out there and celebrate with a perfect pizza pie. Which pizza destination is your favorite in the Marina? Do tell!
