Treat Your Valentine to a Sweet Marina del Rey Outing

The Valentine’s Day countdown has begun and you officially have eight days to concoct your sweetheart plan! Are you up for the challenge? When you live in Marina del Rey, it’s actually not a challenge at all because there are so many fabulous options to choose from… and we’re not ONLY talking about the traditional romantic scenarios. Our town is so spectacular, the Valentine to-dos accommodate every stretch of cupid’s arrow—whether it’s a night of amore or a V-Day meal with your BFF (human or four-legged!).

Check out four fun ideas—you’ll find at least ONE that will be the perfect outing for you and your boo.

DINE OUT IN STYLE

Nothing says L-O-V-E like sharing an incredible meal at one the Marina’s best restaurants. Here are three favorites that are featuring wonderful Valentine’s Day Menus—all guaranteed to make your significant other, spouse or best friend feel downright adored.

Café del Rey
4451 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey

Enjoy a delicious three-course Valentine’s meal at Café del Rey for $90 per person (plus tax and tip). The menu features amazing dishes like Smoked Potato & Artichoke Hearts Soup; Chateaubriand with whipped sweet potatoes; Seafood Scampi over linguini; and a sinful chocolate cake. Call 310.823.6395 to book your table.

Whiskey Red’s
13813 Fiji Way, Marina del Rey

Whiskey Red’s is accepting reservations for their Romantic Valentine’s Day Experience, and you can definitely expect swoon-worthy ambience and great food. They’ll be serving a four-course, prix fixe meal and while we don’t have the highlight reel yet (at the time of publishing, they’re still working on the details!)—we can pretty much guarantee it will be beautifully presented and scrumptious. Visit their website for up-to-the-minute details and to book reservations—or call 310.823-4452.

Locanda Positano
4059 Lincoln Blvd., Marina del Rey

Locanda Positano’s Valentine’s menu is looking divine, with a huge assortment of gourmet-inspired dishes that will leave you and your Valentine full and happy. Start out with the grilled vegetable & polenta appetizer or the organic beet salad, then move on to a hearty pasta like the Tagliatelle with creamy parmesan sauce and shaved Italian black truffles or the linguini with lobster tail and spicy tomato sauce. Meat eaters can dive into their 8-oz Filet Mignon, while seafood lovers can enjoy a great Mediterranean Sea bass with tomatoes, olives and capers. Check out the full menu and call 310.526.3887 for reservations.

CRUISE ALONG THE HARBOR

Hornblower’s Romantic Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise is definitely high on the romantic scale—so couples, this one’s all for you. You and your sweetie can glide across the harbor on a beautiful yacht; sip champagne on the deck; dine on a five-course meal; and dance under the moonlight. Sounds like a dream, right? Call 310-3011-9900 or book online to secure reservations. Tickets are $150/each plus landing fees and taxes for the three-hour cruise. PS They have two menus available this year, including a vegetarian/vegan menu.

PICNIC AT BURTON CHACE PARK

A picnic at Burton Chace Park is the perfect, low-key Valentine’s Day outing. You don’t need to dress up, you can go fancy food or casual, you have amazing views, and your pet can come! All you need is a nice spread, a fun companion (dogs count) and at least one piece of chocolate for dessert. Ideas for food: Get carryout like sandwiches and salads from Mendocino Farms, sushi from Sugarfish or burritos from El Torito. Packing your own picnic can be fun too—maybe go for the Apple, Brie & Dijon Baguette sandwich; a fresh veggie sandwich with heirloom tomatoes, fresh basil, and grilled eggplant; or perhaps a traditional chicken salad sandwich. And for dessert, nothing says Valentine’s like chocolate covered strawberries (and carob-coated cookies for your pup!).

GET A COUPLES MASSAGE

The couples massage—this is the Valentine’s gift made of 100% indulgence. Spoil your significant-other/friend silly and head to Spa del Rey for a 60-minute Couples Massage for $300 and enjoy a luxurious massage suite with dual rain showerheads, a private steam room, champagne and truffles… oh—and great massages! Another decadent spa option is one of the incredible packages at Creative Chakra Spa. Choose from the outdoor Cabana Massage for $235; the Fireside Massage, which is specially priced at $325 (usually $525); the Couples Nirvana Massage with Facial—specially priced at $270; or the Sweet Love Couples Massage (comes with strawberries and chocolate fondue) for $108 per person.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Whatever you do, have a grand, love-filled day, everyone!
