FIVE WAYS TO RECHARGE YOUR WORK DAY IN MARINA DEL REY

Even when you live in a paradise like Marina del Rey, the Monday through Friday workday blues can totally sneak up on you. It’s normal, nothing to worry about it—we all catch the monotony doldrums now and again. However, there are ways around it—especially in our town. And it all starts with motivating yourself to shake things up and make every day count in a big way. Ready for some great ideas? Here you go!

HIT UP “DAYBREAKER LA” AT WHISKEY RED’S THIS THURSDAY MORNING

If you really want to start your work day with a major energy boost, purchase tickets for Daybreaker LA, happening at Whiskey Red’s this Thursday (January 18th). This kooky, fun event starts bright and early with yoga (led by Reace Daniel) at 5:30 am and a dance party from 6:30 am to 8:30 am. DJ Lonely Boy and Emcee Ary Katz will be playing the tunes and intergalactic costumes like space helmets and metallic shirts are highly encouraged (the theme is “Through Time & Space”)! Also, all attendees will enjoy coffee, juice and breakfast treats, plus special surprises and performances. This shindig sells out fast so check it out asap!

GRAB A LUNCH TIME MINI-MASSAGE

Seriously—can you think of a better way to recharge your body mid-day? If you work near one of the great massage spots in and around the Marina — take advantage! You can schedule a 30-minute targeted massage at BW Simply Massage (13400 W. Washington) or a 30-minute Total Body Stretch Session at one of the local Massage Envy locations (there’s one at 4770 Admiralty Way and another at 10994 Jefferson Blvd). If you time it right, you’ll still have time to grab a lunchtime smoothie on your way back to work.

TAKE A WALK IN THE PARK

It’s amazing what some fresh air can do after a hard morning’s work. Bring some comfy shoes along in your pack, and when the clock strikes lunchtime, go for a stroll! If you’re lucky enough to be within close proximity to Burton Chace Park, then you have relaxation gold at your fingertips. But really, no matter where you are, just getting outside and breathing in the goodness will reinvigorate you in no time.

MEDITATE (ON THE BEACH!)

The beautiful thing about meditation is that you can do it pretty much anywhere—in your office, in a quiet courtyard…or, if your location is beach-close (like near Mother’s Beach or Dockweiler), on your own sandy square. Just focus, get in the moment, and find your zen. Even just 5 to 10 minutes can totally recharge your mind for the rest of the work day.

ORGANIZE A WORK-SQUAD LUNCH OUTING

If you’re the boss — make this happen! And if you’re not the boss, make the suggestion—because team-lunch bonding (outside of work!) is a really cool way to break up the day. Especially if your team heads somewhere great like Tony P’s or the Warehouse—or even jets over to the Yardhouse (since their menu tends to satisfies every dietary preference). Bonus tip to make this a grand slam idea: Plan the team outing for a Friday—the post-lunch afternoon will fly by and then it’s weekend time! Smart thinking, we know.

How do you keep yourself energized during the work week around Marina del Rey? Morning yoga at the beach? A few triple shot soy lattés? Perhaps one of our nifty ideas above? Let us know!
