Do you feel that whisper of winter in the air? Isn’t it grand? Temps are coming down, hot cocoa is calling, and best of all—ICE is back! Yep, this Saturday marks opening day for Santa Monica’s massively loved outdoor skating rink, an 8,000 square-foot ring of wintry fun right at Fifth and Arizona. So come on Marina del Rey people, dig out your skates (or rent a pair there!), plop on your cutest winter cap, and get ready to glide (or playfully stumble) across that glittering iced wonderland. (We guarantee the kid in you is going to be downright gleeful!)

Now, if you make your way there for that 12th season Grand Opening this weekend, get ready to be dazzled because some of California’s elite skaters will be captivating the crowd with a free performance. Plus, there will be a DJ, plenty of food from nearby restaurants and even a gentle snowfall (faux snow, but still lovely). We’d be remiss if we left out this heartwarming tidbit—the opening will also feature a PAL Best Gift Ever toy drive to benefit less fortunate children this holiday season. So bringing a gift card or unwrapped gift along for the toy drive would be a very merry idea.

After Saturday, the rink will be open seven days a week. Monday through Thursday from 2 pm to 10 pm/Friday from 2 pm to midnight/Saturday from 10 am to midnight/Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm. Aside from general skating, you can also rent two-hour cabanas for parties and take skating lessons from the Randy Gardner School of Skating.

$15-Skate rental and all-day admission

$45-One-on-one skating lesson for 20 minutes

$5-Locker rental

Will you be going to ICE Santa Monica? It’s just a short jaunt from the Marina—how can you resist? Let us know if we’ll see you twirling at the rink this season!
